My eldest is finishing primary school at the end of the week and he has had his current (male) teacher for 2 and a half years.
He had done a lot for my son and I really appreciate the extra effort he goes to - he runs after school clubs and before school chess and lunchtime chess. He is a nice guy. I would say mid twenties, married to another teacher, trendy (uses hair straighteners!!). Generally at end of year and Christmas I have given him a couple/a few bottles of beer or a bottle of wine.
As this is the last gift i wanted to get something a bit better but stuck for ideas - nothing too personal obviously and nothing that is just tat.
He seems to like sport but no clue what in particular.
ohh good ideas everyone. Looking to spend probably about £20. Meant to add that it must be easily obtainable as I need it for Friday and we dont have a big town centre.
Whatever you give him, please write him a note as well, saying how much you appreciate what he's done for your son. My OH has had lots of end-of-term presents over his career, but he still has a note written almost 40 years ago from a Mother.
As he's a teacher I'd go for a book voucher or an amazon voucher so he can spend it on what he likes. You can print the voucher you choose yourself so no need to go anywhere.
chess set maybe a bit steep for something nice. I though about a bottle of malt tony but I feel bad enough sending a child to school with wine/beer, not sure about handing an 11year old a bottle of the hard stuff to take to school!
Book would be a good idea - he has spent most of the time with my son trying to tempt him into reading the classics but my son has been more succesfull getting him to read his books rather than the other way round!
Maybe I should get my son to choose him a book and sign it??
