Well assuming your partner lives with you, you will get child benefit and probably some small amount of child tax credit. That's it from the state. Your employer must give Maternaty leave of 6 months with 6 weeks on full pay, (I think)

www.direct.gov.uk

then choose parenting!

this tells you your rights...

Congratulations hope everything goes well.

This is an excellent website that informs you of what your rights are:

http://www.maternityalliance.org.uk/

You can find out what your rights are with regard to maternity benefits, work rights and tax credits.

You should be entitled to statutory maternity pay. Also, check out any qualifying periods for enhanced maternity pay with yoru HR department (although this is *usually* 12 months with the employer before EDD).

You should be entitled to WFTC on your income - as a very rough guide about 45 a month, although I understand you get more when the baby is under one. You may also be able to get help towards childcare costs. Look at www.inlandrevenue.gov.uk and do an online tax credits assessments. In addition you will receive Child Benefit (about 70 a month). Good luck and remember kids are priceless!!
