Sharing A Bath With Children
I remember when I was tiny I would get in the bath with my dad - till I was about 3 or 4.
Buut I was talking to a work colleague yesterday and she was saying that she still has a bath with her son, and he is 10. I thought that was quite odd, or is it just me??

As lots of others have mentioned, each Family has it's own dynamic. My 2 Sons are 8 and 10, and would happily share a bath together, mainly because they want to splash each other and soak the Bathroom Floor. We don't let them share A Bath as they make far too much mess, but it is not because of their ages. I dont find it odd tht a 10 year old may be ok with bathing with his mother, but I do find it odd that the Mother would allow it at that age. My Boys would happily roam around the house naked if they could as nakedness does not bother them, but lately I have been making a point that they should get dressed.
I have to say, I find it a little sad that a 2 year old is not allowed in the Bathroom whilst Daddy is in the Bath/Shower because a 2 year old should not see a parent naked. I was brought up in a house whith this type of attitude, and it left it's scars. I vividly remember the horror I had to go through each week at Secondary School when we had communal showers after PE.

@FGT (and others) -perhaps if more people had questioned and listened to children in the past we would not have the situation we have now with adults admitting they were abused as children and not being believed or nothing done about it. i am not condoning a 'witch hunt' just making what I believe to be a valid point about this particular incident. Of course there is nothing wrong with nudity and families have different attitudes when it comes to this -but even if the boy was ok with bathing with his mother she has a responsibility to show by example to her children what is acceptable and what is not -and to most people a 10 year old boy bathing with his mother is unusual .
TEAK36, Mr P and I wanted to stop her going in now rather than when she is more aware that Daddy is naked and stopping her might let her think that she has done something wrong in seeing him with no clothes on.
It's more a case of trying not to make a big deal of her NOT seeing him naked. I understand that you think this has scarred you for life, but I doubt it will have a major impact on her life.
Everyone has horrors at the communal changing room at school, regardless if they've seen mum and dad in the buff.

I've just realised by reading some of the reactions to my notion the boy could be abused that people concluded I meant sexual abuse -not at all!! There are far far more children and adults that suffer mental abuse, be it bullying, passive aggressive partners/parents - and often this abuse is never recognized never mind reported. I myself suffered greatly as a child from a manipulative, passive aggressive mother, and was often beaten - but it wasn't until I was studying for my degree in Psychology that I realised it was abuse as it seemed normal life to me. This is why I think the mother needs approaching.
we all share bath water in our house (3 of us) which is fine and we are also on a meter, so cannot afford to have seperate baths (the landlord has refused to let us install a shower). we all walk round in the nuddy at times; we are not prudish in any way (son isn't either - he's 19) and come in and out of the bathroom to chat/use the loo etc as well. but....to share a bath with a child at the age of 10 is odd (there can't be enough room for one thing), especially one of the opposite sex. the child will be affected by this at that age - either embarrassed and not able to refuse, not being allowed to grow up naturally (she says she still sees him as a little boy) or there is something going on. i would've blurted out i thought she was weird and that i think it's wrong, but then i usually say what i think anyway.
