Hi There,
I am moving from london to suffork, and I am nearly 15 weeks pregnant, and I am worried that my mum will not make it in time for the birth as she lives in london, I did think she can come before I am due but if I go over due it could be up to 2 weeks my mum will have to go back to work, My sister has 2 children one who is 6 and just had one, so not fair to ask her, My partner is very supportive and he will be there, but we dont know what to expect. any advise.

but anyways i'm really writing to say my son was born in london but my family all live in finland. like you bottom, i have a brilliant suportive partner who got me thru labour (theres a reason they call it that). i was worried that i would miss my mum, but found that my partner was enough. you'll have so many midwives, student midwives, nurses allsorts coming and going that any extra people will just be confusing. i got thru it by staring at my partner and squeezing his hand. if i'd had to pay attention to my fussy mum as well it would have been too much. my partners mum and niece came to see me at the hospital the next day, which was really nice cos then i'd had a chance to sleep and wash and could just focus showing off my son. my mum came to visit us couple of weeks later.
if your mum misses you giving birth, she'll be there when your ready for visitors to coo over her gorgeous grandchild, don't worry.
Bizarrely (sp?) my mum was there when I was eventually transferred to another hospital and she refused to come because she said she would feel helpless if her 'baby' was having a bad time and said she was better to go home. But I have to say I laboured for a long time with my ex and friend by my side and the whole time i just wanted my mummy!!!!
Like others have said before, if she can get there she will and if baby has other plans then she will/wont be there but believe me they make up for it!!!!
Stop worrying and just enjoy it.
