Hi. I'm interested in buying the bbc muzzy language dvd's for my 2 year old(will be used by a 4 year old too). I wondered if anyone has bought them and what they think of them before I part with my money.

I've not come across these myself but it seems that they're not a total hit with our transatlantic cousins! :

Well I'm not sure I'm going to be much help but I'm going to post anyway. When I started to learn English in fourth grade (I'm Danish) we sometimes watched Muzzy films. I remember we loved him, it's probably a bit different but we thought it was fun. I can' tell you if it helped with our language skills and I assume it was aimed at children our age learning English, but we liked Muzzy. I'm pretty sure they were about him getting some clocks back from space, so not exactly the princess being kidnapped theme :0)

ps. We may have been older, as in fifth or sixth grade, when we saw the films I can't remember it exactly.

I used to have these films when I was little - I absolutely loved them, and I still use words in French that I rememer learning from them. I am now studying languages at University. I think they are fantastic and that you should get them - fun and educational. My brother and I always used to pick them by choice over other kids films.

Our friends used products from babybumblebee . com and liked them very much.

I am sorry - baby bumblebee is for language delay. I see now that muzzy is to learn another language. Sorry.

we watched muzzy in my old school as part of the french course. i thought it was a bit crap. some of the songs were good though, and the talking-stuff (sry, im not very linguistic today) was pretty good. i don't remember much from it, but enough to know that it isn't phenomonal. i'm sorry i wasn't much help, just felt like chipping into this thread.
