Can my ex wife stop me taking the children abroad on holiday for two weeks when it is my time with them?

You'll have to look carefully at the order governing the time you spend with your children.  They are all different, as all families are different.  Therefore it probably won't be possible for anyone here to offer definitive advice. 

You'll probably need to check with your lawyer.  As usual, best to do that BEFORE the planned action (i.e., the holiday) than afterwards.  I presume also that the holiday would not be in term time.

Even if your wife is legally able to prevent you taking the children, you don't really want to get things that far if possible - try to keep things amicable, if it's not already too late. Don't let your children suffer for what ever split you to up as adults.

If she has 'care and control' then I think you do need her permission to take them abroad.

If you ask her and she will not give it then I guess it becomes a legal matter, which will not be very pleasant for anyone involved.

It's not just a case of who has their passports.  For goodness sake please PLEASE heed the sensible advice here.  Avoid a legal dispute if necessary, and if it gets to that stage, consult a solicitor FIRST.  You must remember that you need to retain the trust of your children.  Funny goings on and they won't like it.  And I doubt they'd enjoy seeing Mummy and Daddy having another falling out.

As far as i am aware, if you wish to take the children out of the country, including Scotland you should get written permission from the 'other' parent and keep this confirmation with their passports.
