What do you mean only 5 days to go? Have they not broke up till the new year?

You can try entertaining them. Playing games of some sort if you get the time. The problem is lack of time nowadays.

Trouble is most children get their presents on Christmas morning and by tea time they can't remember what they got and are bored all over again.
Oh Spudqueen, I did laugh at your post. My kids are just the same. I was so looking forward to being with them for a few days and they've just been so badly behaved (because they're bored). I've now got one papier macheing and the other is in her room singing Xmas carols. They was even naughty waiting to see Santa this morning!

oh funnywebsite - it was just an observation. I am perfectly capable of amusing my children, and luckily the youngest one loves to play cards and board games. I was really just observing that he was bored because he was waiting until Christmas.
funnywebsite- if i am right spud queen meant only 5 days til xmas!
i solved the problem tonight spudqueen, I let him go to his friend's house for tea, let the little monkey wear someone else's parents out tonight! Aaaarghhhhhhhhhhhhh it's my turn now from tomorrow morning until Sunday!!!!

get them to tidy their rooms - thats a start

then they can help wou with the housework - maybe a little ceebeebies at the end of it!

you're lucky my kids broke up at 2pm yesterday and were given so much junk to eat at school plus about ten different bags of chocolate snowmen, coins father christmases etc, which they had all but eaten by the time that I picked them up, they were mega hyperactive until about 6pm. Im not allowed to send my kids into school with sweets (which I think is a good idea) yet the teachers seem happy to stuff them with it. They finally fell into sugar induced comas at about 7.30.
Oh I see 5 days to go to Christmas Day on Sunday. I have forgotton about all the excitement of opening presents. I just count to break up from work and go back in my case.
Give them a jigsaw and a time limit by which you expect it to be completed, otherwise fines will apply in the form of domestic tasks. That might concentrate their minds on whether they're bored on not !

haha, I hear that all the time from one of my two kids, the other is really good at entertaining himself.

One of the things my mother told me when I said I was bored and I say it to my kids is, You're so luck to be bored. When you grow up, you'll have so many responsibilities-chores, you won't have time to be bored. I don't think it helps but it helps me to say it.

I also tell my daughter that it's her job to figure out how not to be bored, not mine. If she wants me to help her with it, I'll put her to work
