can any one offer any advice on warming the bedroom whilst our baby sleeps. our 13 wk old baby sleeps in our room but it is v cold. we're using a halogen heater at present which maintains recomended room temp' but the room is always light. i'm concerned that she may never get used to sleeping in the dark. i'm thinking of a panal heater, i also have to think of cost so if any one can suggest the most economical, safe method of warming our room i would be very grateful.thank you

What about the plug in oil filled radiators? Don't know how much it would cost on the electrical bill though

I have an oil filled rad in my bedroom and leave in on low day and night and its always warm.

If you do get one, DONT get the Challenger make that they have in the argos as ive heard a couple of people say that they have leaked

i got a Dimplex one from Argos for 50 and its great, it has a timer and a humidifier to keep the air moist.

I can't answer your q about heaters, but when both my babies slept in my room I would leave a small light on so I could read when I came to bed. When they went to their own rooms neither minded being in the dark.

I put one of those hot water bottles in my daughters bed just as i go. in Boots you can get those really big ones that are very thick so wouldn't burn the baby i.e winnie the pooh or my daughter has humphreys corner one and i just place at the bottom of her cot this adds more warmth you could even wrap it in a towel so she doesnt get too hot

How cold is cold? I think the rec temp is 18C, but many houses are 21 in the lounge. It can feel v cold when you go to another room at 18C. In our house the babys room dropped to 11C one night - two blankets and a baby grow (a sleeping bag with arms) with the oil filled rad on low seemed to do it. I just check his hands/face to see if he is warm enough.

Just DON'T cover their head.

but you probably knew that one anyway
