weaning on carrott
Im thinking about weening my 14 week ( im just thinking about it , i dont intend on starting until at least wek 20)
my query is if I give him carrott on its own wont it have a dioreaha effect on him, and give him cramps in his tummy? Thats what it would do to me if i ate nothing but carrott.(or pear or apple)
if i puree carrott and puree potato, can i mix them together before freezing them in ice cube trays.

This way you get to know what he likes, what his tummy will handle and so on. He probably won't want much to start with anyway..are you thinking of starting him on baby rice first, so he gets to know the texture?
Once established, you can mix together & freeze in ice cube trays. This worked for me, but have to say that veg on ikt's own was fine...but pureed pear DID have a slightly interesting effect on bubbas tummy ;o)
It is important that the food is very smooth otherewise there is a chokeing hazard as the baby hasn;'t learnt to chew yet. It is good to try something like baby rice, or baby porridge made with formula or brest milk, this also keeps the tastes plain and wont give the baby a shock! Then begin to add in flavours and gradulally corusen it until is solids! We did this with our son (2yrs now) and he will now eat everything (even likes tasted of his dads v hot curry). He did reject some flavours at first, avacado, brochilli and tomms. Now you carnt feed him enough brochilli and tomms!
All the best!
Wow, Hgrove I had completely forgotten Annabel's books (my youngest is now 5 so it's been a while...).
I used a recipe book of hers when my 9 year old was weaning. There are some fantastic recipes in there, not at all boring & simple to make ~ I have to say that my daughter is a very unfussy eater...probably down to the good variety of foods she had as a baby.
Another thing I would like to recommend are the Hipp & Organix baby food range if you go for a day out or are short on prepared food. As a rule I didn't like to use the jars, but these were great & really did taste home made :o)
