They vetted their sitters very carefully and had very stringent rules about how long they were allowed to leave the house for. The lady we got was absolutely brilliant. Our cat loved her and without asking, she springcleaned our house from top to bottom, cleaned & tidied the kitchen cupboards stripped the beds and put on clean laundry and we returned home to a house smelling of lavender polish!
Check how they vet their clients. Many of these companies use retired active retirees who are very reliable and just want to earn a little extra income.. If you're uncertain, ask them for the names of some previous clients so that you can contact them for a personal reference.
We used http://www.missmolly.co.uk who only charge a one off registration then you are able to contact the registered carers yourself either through th site or by email
