My daughter is getting married in July and as the father of the bride will I be expected to make a speech at the reception and if so what,roughly, should be the content

You're lucky - the Best Man has to do the humourous speech, so you can get away with just being polite, thanking everyone for coming, wishing the happy couple all the best, toasting the bridesmaids, and sitting down. Anything else, is up to you!


If you don't feel confident, keep it nice and sort, and sit down quickly - and above all, don;t worry, everyone there is on your side- they are enjoying your hospitality!
