2yr old with ear infection - Travel

My 2 yrold has an ear, throat and chest infection, which she is receiving antibiotics for, we are due to take a short flight at the end of next week, will she be ok to fly???

she should be fine by then with antibiotics, but flying can agrivate ears and cause alot of pain, dont no if ear plugs would help but sucking does, does she have a dummy at all if she does give her this.
How about asking your GP rather than seeking the advice of the unqualified chit-chat mongers on this site?

you definately need to get them checked out before you go....I speak in hind-sight (which is a wonderful thing!)


A couple of years ago my son (then aged 9) and myself went on a flight from Bristol to Edinburgh and unbeknown to me he had an ear infection. The pressure in the plane caused him to end up with a perforated ear-drum and to say it is was painful is an understatement!


My poor husband ended up having to drive from Plymouth to Edinburgh and then back again with us as he was unable to fly.


If everything is ok you could try using the equalising ear plugs that you can get in Boots that equalise the cabin pressure in their ears, and of course as said above sucking helps a lot!
