It's a perfectly normal name, there was even a song called Tammy by Debbie Reynolds in the 1950's (google tammy debbie reynolds and you can hear it). I know a girl called Tammy and my ex-next door neighbours had a granddaughter called Tammy. Hey it could be worse, you could have my real name.

I've got an unusal Indian name. Goodness knows where my parents got it from as we have no connections with India at all, in any shape or form. I've met one other lady with my name, she was Indian and was named after her Auntie and someone informed me last week that they saw a nurse who looked asian with my name on her name badge. Sorry I'm not going to tell you what the name is but it is very unusual and would identify me immediately!

I knew a girl at school called Tammy and she was plagued with the nickname, Tammy Tampon. I felt so sorry for her, but I'm afraid it put me off the name.
