One year old tantrums
My little boy is 16 months old and is becoming more and more angry and aggresive. Everything he gets hold of he throws at me, he is always hitting me.. more out of excitement, but it still hurts. He wont feed himself any more, as soon as he gets hold of the spoon, he fills it full of food, puts it too his mouth, then as soon as I say 'good boy' he takes it back out and lobs it across the room. Its not as if he doesnt want to eat it, cos as soon as I feed him he eats it fine, untill he has had enough when he will try and knock the spoon out of my hand and scream untill I have taken his bowl of the table.
He doesnt evan look at me when I say no, and then I end up shouting at him, which either makes no differance still, or he bursts in to tears, shich makes me feel dreadfull as he is still just a baby!
If I take something of of him, he screams, starts grabing my hands, or pulling me out of the way to try and find it, and then lies flat out on the floor kicking and screaming!
Me and my partner are not violent to each other and he doesnt go to nursery so he hasnt picked up a habit from there.
I no this will sound really silly, and im sure your all going to say this is normal baby behaviour, but I just dont know how to deal with it. I dont want him to turn into a tiny tearaway!!!
Thankyou all in advance

i have never had this problem so i dont profess to be an expert.
Andy hughes is usually good with parental advice - where are you Andy ??????
do you watch supernanny ? she seems to sort these problems out easily (?)
good luck hun - i feel for you. x
I know that its difficult to do but give it a go at not taking much notice when he 'goes into one', just make sure that he's safe whatever he's doing but don't make a big deal. My son also started to bite my leg if I wouldn't let him have his own way so I started kneeling down to his level and saying a firm 'NO' that done the trick aswell.
I wish you luck, remember you're not alone x
I think you should discuss this with a professional. His behaviour does seem rather extreme. Do you still attend a clinic with your son. I would do this sooner rather than later in case there is an underlying problem.
I don't mean to worry you as it is probably just temper tantrums, but please seek some advice.
Best wishes.
My daughter has a temper like this too and I have found that ignoring it works best when possible. As for food, if she throws anything I take it away, tell her it's naughty and get her out of her high chair. After this had been done 2-3 times, she stopped doing it (with the exception of a couple of occasions, testing again!).
As for the throwing herself onto the floor, we never give in and always ignore her protestations. She is normally up doing other things within a minute. If she does not sort herself out quickly, I put her in her cot for a minute or so, then go in and ask her if she's ready to stop crying and go downstairs. She normally stops and comes downstairs; otherwise I repeat the process.
As gessoo says, you could also discuss with your health visitor - he/she will have discussed similar issues with lots of other parents and may be able to offer some useful advice. Good luck, hope the situation improves soon xx
thankyou all for your help.
he doesnt have any juice or sweets, so i no its not his food.
I have started to feed him out of the highchair, and he seems much happier, he is eating finger foods, adn seems to be quite chilled with it. I dont no if that is now causing an extra rod for my back, but at least he is eating.. and smiling.
I think i will speak to the health visitor though about the hitting.. ive made him sound liek a devil, but it really is more he is just excited, and wants to show me!! But it does have to stop, il give her a call in the mornign ta!!!
