My two darlings-9 year old girl and 6 year old boy- asked about where they come from - I told them the basics - mammy has an egg in her tummy. Yesterday he asked her "when you were in mams belly, can you remember playing with an egg, cos that would have been me!" Funny thing is he was indicating with his fingers, when saying egg, the size of a hens egg!

If you've not come across it Babette Cole's "Mummy laid an egg" is a great book for this subject:

There are lots of other good books with illustrations. I like Peter Mayle's book "Where did I come from?", which tackles some of the more difficult questions, but it is quite explicit.

Your local library should be only too willing to help - they should have lists of books to assist parents explaining all sorts of difficult situations - bereavement, adoption, separation, etc

The Family Planning Association is another excellent source of leaflets and books.
