My 2 year old grand-daughter won't speak. She is as sharp as a tack, knows everything and lets you know what she wants by a series of signs and grunts. Any advice. Thanks.

if her hearing has been checked and is o k dont worry, get some advice from health visitor, does she have older siblings ?
my son did'nt talk till he had turned three, then he suddenly started and knew all the words immediately. he is in no way behind his friends at school, no-one would even believe it now.

the answer is not to push it, it WILL happen in its own time.
as said if her hearing is ok dont worry - if you dont want to react to grunts and signs start ignoring her until she talks.
personally i wouldnt worry.
Why should she talk? She is getting what she wants pretty well i assume? The next time she grunts for something just tell her,'dont know what you mean, cant hear you',believe me she will find her voice, late talking is nothing new, dont worry,my son wasnt talking till he was 3 and a half,he's now 14 and doesnt know how to stop,,,haha,he went through speech therapy and it done wonders, when the speech starts you wont know what hit you!!!!!!
take her back and get a refund
Can you take them back?
My son did not speak until over three and now he is the most eloquent and articulate person you could imagine ! I would not worry too much at all.
