A 2 year old that swears!
5 Answers
My grand daughter is 2 years 4 months old and is a right little chatterbox. Recently she has started to use the "F" word. She is at nursery for 6 hours during the day and the other day she said it 7 times!!
When my daughter was queing up to pay in a shop her daughter came out with F****** hell.
At first my daughter just ignored it, now she just tell her that it is not a nice word and mummy doesn't like to hear it.
Thought I'd better add that it is NOT a word my daughter uses so we are not sure where she's picked it up from.
Any advice on how you coped or how my daughter can deal with it would be great.

If she tells her she doesn't like it,your daughter is actually just giving her the ability to push her buttons whenever she likes, so it's important that she doesn't do that. I daresay she's picked it up at nursery as some people's language is very colourful shall we say in front of their kids and kids will pick up a word like that in a trice and hold onto it if it ticks off adults as it gives them a power they don't usually have. Just ignore it and eventually it will stop being used.
Completely ignore it. My 5 yr old said it the other day but he is old enough to be explained its not on. I find it hardest not laugh whe n the little ones do it, and of course thats the worst thing you can do. My cousin said it a lot when he was little and my nan asked him in the middle of town if he had been a good boy. He replied "yeah, I haven't said F*** for days"
You'll just have to get the nursery by the scruff of the neck about it, so to speak, because you don't want this continuing. Tell them you are surprised that professional child carers are unaware of how to properly deal with it (it is an accepted child care strategy to ignore it) and ask them how exactly they feel constantly drawing attention to negative behaviour is likely to actually help in solving the problem.Tell them in no uncertain terms that they WILL igbnore as if they don't they are actually propagating this behaviour and you won't accept that.
