Perfectly normal.

I remember my son having erections more often than not ~ his first one just after being born!

Really? Good to know! Thank you so much! I don't know any other mums so it's reassuring to be able to ask!
You are very welcome. I found it most annoying when I was changing his nappy...hubby suggested whacking some sudocrem on it as it may have a bromide type effect ;o) LOL.

My son is now 14 years old and you can guess the current state of affairs!
I completely agree - I've got a 3yr old boy too and he's always getting erections!!

SO pleased to know he's normal! heehee!
Is it just involuantary then? I thought maybe because he needs a wee...it's always uncomfortable when I take him to toilet at night and pee goes up not down...ah the joys of parenting ;-)

I think it is just an automatic thing - my little un is always getting them, day and night - and he can never hit the toilet if he goes in the night!!

My son is starting to get a bit curious now and seems to be forever playing with himself - the other day he said that he thought that there was 'a sausage in his winkie!'.....pmsl!

Has your son just started getting them or has he always had them?
Question Author
I suppose he has always had them, but they are more noticable recently (especially as he's out of nappies and growing up a bit, he's 4 in Jan).

He's also becoming very curious about why Mummy doesn't have a willy, which he thinks is hilarious! He's growing up way too fast - wish I could stop him!!
snap - mine is 4 at the end of December - they grow up so quickly!!

It is involuntary, although they do get to the age where they 'make it happen' LOL.

I suppose it is just the body making sure everything is working properly :o)

I do sympathise with the toilet thing ~ the men in my house have always had an awful aim!
When my son was little he told me one day he had a stick in his trousers. God, I love reminding him of that now he's 33!
The reason is physiological - and aplies to a lot of adult men as well -

the bladder is situated next to the Cowper's gland, which is responsible for the erection. When the male is lying down, and the bladder fills, it presses on the Cowper's and gives an involuntary erection, which subsides when the male stands up, the bladder moves off the gland, the erection subsides again.

That's why a lot of guys wake up with the 'morning glory' - perfectly natural, nothing to panic over.
Oh but Andy ~ it does happen when males don't need a pee too!

i'm 30 and i still get them involuntry
my son started getting them at a really early age but this helped us to find out about his reallt tight foreskin and he got circumcised early enough that no infection set in.
He is also curious as to why i do not have a willy and i tried to explain to him that i have a "flower" instead, he then went on to ask me if it looks like a daffodil !!! the subject was quickly changed!
