breastfeed baby to sleep & change to cot
I have recently asked aquestion about this but looking for more help. I still breastfeed my 6 month old to sleep for daytime naps and at night. I think she sleeps from her 11pm/12 midnight feed to after 5, unless she sleep feeds as she co shares my bed with me. But am trying to loose the feed to sleep and transition to her cot, which is next to our bed. I only do this as now I am sleeping a bit more, albeit get backache from sleeping to make sure my daughter is safe and comfortable. she does have a feed but i think its just comfort thing. i have tried sothers but smaller teat ones are for younger babies and she wont always take dummy how can i transition this, i dont agree with books like contented baby as react to her needs but realise she isnt stupid so want to work naturally with her but dont know where to start, help...

Emmy is 9 months and still feeds frequently at night, i tried giving water for the feed I wanted to drop, worked for lots of people I know, sadly my daughter isnt stupid lol and insisted on boob or nothing!
The water has worked for so many i know, so its worth a try

Not sure exactly what you are asking for advice on? i think you want to stop feeding your baby to sleep put her in a cot and to stop feeding in the night. If so then i think the best thing to do is make sure she is full up and happy and awake then at same time every night put her in her cot, she will cry but she is ok and she will get used to it. you can talk to her and rub her tummy, placing your hand flat over their chest and keeping it there is comfort for a lot of babies. You could give her a cloth or blanket to hold as its comfort and security thats ok to be attached to. after a few nights or so she will settle herself to sleep. keep going back in the room to reassure her youre there. especially when shes not crying.
for stopping night feeds its best to just give water when she wakes in the night she'll soon stop waking. i did this from 8 weeks with my son and he slept through from then.
Older babies are sometimes better in their own room as they see you in bed. i had my son in bed with me for first month or so but then in a cot in my room until about 7 months. he has always been happy going to bed and slept well, hes now four! i do still keep going back in his room when hes going to sleep i think it makes them feel secure but that they dont need you to get to sleep. hope this helps
