My friends grandson is 3yrs old, his parents allow him to have chewing gum which he swollows he eats a packet like any other child would eat jelly tots, I said surley this is bad for him but they say it has done him no harm, surley it must cause some problems in the long term

thats terrible even allowing him to have chewing gum and yes it can clog his intestines up, chwing gum staying in there for years, have you said anything to his parents, sory but in my opinion not very good parents.

i might be wrong as i did also see a site that said its harmless, but i woudl never let my children swallow gum, even have it at 3.
My daughter is 6 and still not allowed to have chewing gum but thats because I personally dont like children smacking their lips together when chewing, or adults come to think of it! My worry would be the hazard of a child choking on it. I agree 3 is definately too young though.
