Does anyone know roughly what year it was that professionals began to tell parents to put babies to sleep on their backs. Thanks

Hi. My son is 14 years old, and when he was born,the advice then was put them on their backs to sleep.

My sons were born in 1991 and 1994 and the advice from the hospital was to put them on their sides. I have pictures of them both in hospital on their sides. With my older son we were even told to roll a blanked up and pop that against their back to stop the baby rolling over onto their back.
