Hi all, well the piglet has decided that she doesnt want milk now, she has been like this for the last few days and I reckon she is only taking about 15oz a day. she is otherwise happy and not out of sorts, any ideas or is this just a phase. she is 5 and a half months now.

Thanks

hello hun, havnt seen you for a bit.

Is the piglet now being weaned? They often slow down on milk intake if they are taking more solids.

Hi red, hope all is well. I have been in Ireland for the last month and had no access to t'internet.
Yes she has been weaned and is eating her food no problem. I was just worried that she might dehydrate but that said, she doesnt seem to be at all bothered (its only her dad and I that are!!!).

God, this parent malarkey is a nightmare, I am never done worrying about something!

A whole month? that mustve been nice

have you tried giving her a drop of water if shes thirsty? Milk is a food to them rather than a drink at that age.

If shes eating well then maybe use some milk to make porriges and stuff (the organix ones are good) so you know shes getting nutrients from the milk.

Amelia isnt even beginning to be weaned and yet shes only taking 24oxs a day now (shes just dropped 2 bottles in one week and sleeps 9.30pm to 8.30am, no dream feed) but shes growing well.

They are all different (I know, we keep saying it) and some babies need more than others. But at the end of the day if shes developing well and isnt showing any signs of being ill then its just one of those things. She may well increase her intake again when she hits her next growth spurt

Its a steep learning curve hun, but youre doing well xx

Hi leggy, she is taking juice by the spoon but wont take water at all. I am sure she is fine and its just me worrying over every little thing. she is happy and healthy, I am due to take her to health visitor on tuesday and will ask then.

I think my hair is growing greyer by the day.

You lot never told me about the constant worrying, lol, just as well perhaps!
lol from what i can tell, the worrying doesnt stop!

If shes taking juice and milk and food then i wouldnt think shes much chance of becoming dehydrated hun.

A HV will be able to put your mind at rest xx

Thanks red, I will try not to worry so much, aaaagggghhhh!!!

It was great to get back home and see everyone, although I have to say they were only interested in the piglet. Glad to be back hope, even if the place is a tip as we were like gypsies, all our posessions in the car and travelling from one place to another. Also it rained the whole time, I swear next year I am going to the sun.

Thats brilliant that Amelia is sleeping all night, wow, I cant even begin to imagine that, Lexi still wakes up for a feed and if her dad gets up for her then she is up for a play as well.
oh god, tell mt warpig not to let her wake fully! she'll never get into a routine if she thinks 3am is for playing!!

Amelia used to wake at 2 and 5, then she went to just waking at 3 or 4 and then 8. She never taken a dream feed so after her last bottle at about 9 ish she goes straight through to 8.30. It wont last, once shes teething itll be back to sleepless nights.

I was lucky in that she would go straight off after her nighttime bottles (i never got her up for day earlier than 7.30) so she now knows that that time is for sleeping.

It took a long time (Matthew was sleeping through from about 6 weeks) but Im grateful thats she finally doing it. Its only been 3 nights so far but am sure thats it now.

LOL red, mrwarpig is an idiot (by his own admission), I have told him not to wake her but he just cant help himself. Sadly its ok for him as he is off school at the moment but when he goes back it will be me picking up the pieces in the middle of the night, but at least I can then get her into a proper routine.
if hes off then he should at least realise what youve got to deal with when he goes back, duh Men lol

Actually we had similar with Matthew. Mr CRX used to let him stay up playing til 11pm as he didnt see him much in day time. That took a while to stop and Matthew would never settle to bed very easily.

are you using a mummy board at all? Was Lexi a feb baby? i can dig out a link for you, you can ask what the babies of her age are doing with their bottles.
Question Author
Oh, what is a mummy board????

Yes she was born on 23 Feb.

If you can send a link that would be fantastic as at the moment I kinda feel like I am going through fog and just finding my way, all help gratefully accepted,
http://messageboards.ivillage.co.uk/iv-ukpbfeb 2008/start is the link to the Mums club Feb 08 on ivillage.

I have used the boards since i fell pregnant in October 04 and most of them are great. You are with women at same stage as you and you can ask questions, chat and talk about fears and parenting.

I have made so many friends on there, so has Matthew. We have meets all around the country and one woman even travelled from New Zealand to meet us one year!

I am now helping to run a board for pregnant women and hopefully it will be as good as the one i joined all those years ago

Question Author
Aw red, thank you, as always, you are on the ball!

Will check out board and hopefully hair will stop turning grey by the day, perhaps just by the week.

many thanks
warpig and piglet (who is not in the least bit bothered!)
