Amount of formula in 24 hours
hello!
How much formula should a baby have in 24 hours? She's 17 weeks and weighs 12lbs 6oz (currently on 5 5oz feeds a day) I know it gives a guideline on the back of the tin but she's been seeing a paediatrician who said I should be feeding her X amount which is less than it says on the tin so now I'm confused!!!
I feed her every 3-4 hours, and although she always takes the whole 5oz on offer she never 'asks' for a feed, I have to set alarms coz she'd never remember!! she then sleeps for 10-12 hours at night - So is she getting enough, too much or not enough?

maybe you could try a little baby rice using her milk so she is getting some more milk but in a different way.

baby CRX is 5 months and is on 4 x 7oz a day, some days she takes less.
a baby isnt going to take more if they dont want it and all babies are different. As long as she is gaining weight and developing well then i wouldnt be too worried.
Shes getting what she needs by the sound of it, shes not hungry in the night and shes not crying with hunger.

When my baby was that age.... oooh, a whole 10weeks ago lol... she was on four 7oz feeds a day and sleeping 12hours a night, so only a few ounces more than yours. I can't remember how much she weighed then, or if that's "normal" but thats what she had! Luckily you could set a clock by Emilia, she would have bottles at 6 (when she woke up), 10, 2 and 6 (when she went to bed).
Apart from when they were ill, my sons both slept around 10 hours a night from when they were born - they would wake, have a feed and go back to sleep for an hour or two. At age 8 and 7 they still sleep at least 10 hours. I don't think that we did anything special, I think a lot of it is the luck of the draw!
