i still hate being away from home overnight and i'm 25. when i was a kid i got sick when i stayed overnight at a new house. i'm perfectly normal otherwise,(at least as much as anyone) so i wouldn't worry much. if you have to go, bring some things that will comfort her like a pillow or blanket from home. and if you usually have a quiet house maybe opt for less socializing before she goes to bed or if she's older help her find something quiet to do in a less busy area. plus she can find great postcards nearly anywhere to write her friends, family or even herself (or pet at home). and send them before you leave. it may not seem so bad remembering her postcard in the comfort of home, and kind of melds the two worlds together, so she might remember she's really not that far away.
