Restless baby.

My son is 20 months old and very restless in the night. He goes to sleep OK but can be very restless during the night - and I mean he moves around his whole bed which is a full single (with side rails). Recently when he's in a deep sleep and sometimes just before he wakes, he wails loudly like he's having a bad dream. This morning he woke like this at half 3, and was quite upset until a bottle and cuddles calmed him down and he went back to sleep... we were hoping his sleeping patterns would be improving by now. Any ideas?

Very restless sleep can be indicative of an iron deficiency. Get this checked out - a supplement might be all that is needed here.

We had the same thing with our son (who is now almost 3). For almost 2 years we despaired of getting a full nights leep and tried everything, bottles of milk worked for a while but led to him waking up and wanting more. We weaned him off milk to water, but that didnt get rid of the underlying problem. In the end we gave him a comforter called a blankiez which his mother slept with.
