How old were your babies when you tried baby rice?
My baby is almost 12 weeks and is fine through the day on formula but for the last 3 weeks has been waking on a night up to 10 times and is resettled with a dummy until I eventually have to feed him between 5-6am then work full time as a childminder!
Before this he was sleeping through without waking from 8pm while 6-7am. I am constantly knackered and wondered whether to try him with a spoonful of baby rice before bed to see if it settles him for a better night. I am scared this may do harm though as they now say wait til 6 months. What did others do? BTW my daughter was fully weaned at 15 weeks and has had no ill affects.

Also he isn't extra hungry through the day so don't think he needs it? As for the waking I don't feed him until at least 5am I just put his dummy back in but its doing this all the bloody night thats getting on my nerves! If he didn't wake so much before I could cope with him getting up at 5 just not both.
Well used to do a dream feed but stopped weeks ago when he was put to bed at 8. He used to scream in the lounge all night with us before this and it seemed stupid to keep doing this just to feed him before we went to bed. Gradually he learnt to fall asleep on his own so now he does this I don't want to rock the boat by waking him in case he doesn't settle again plus I am having to go to bed at 9 anyway as I'm so tired!
my sister started my niece on baby rice around 13 weeks then by the time she had here 2nd child the guidelines had changed. Her view was that it had not done her first child any harm so she started my nephew on baby rice at 14 weeks. The kids are now 10 and 6 and very healthy children with good appetites.
I started my girl on solids at 4 months, she is 5 years old now and fine and healthy. When i took her to the health visitor at the time, and told them, they wrote in the red book you get that i had started weaning, but advised should wait till 6 months. I thought that was a bit OTT and made me feel guilty. However i believe these are 'guidelines'! It is not set in stone! No two babies are the same, and i believe you know your own baby!!!!
I am a mum of 3 expecting 4th all mine have been different, goverment guidlines have changed with everyone of my girls. Do what u feel is best for your baby and you, I feel health visitors are so different today and very judgemental not as friendly and approachable as they was when i had my 1st. All 3 of my girls where having baby rice before bed at 12 weeks and they are all healthy lively girls. Start with a small amount , couple of spoon fulls and see how he goes. Good luck.
