My 5mth old loves his food and will eat anything and everything but drinks very little fluid. Now it is so hot I am worried he will dehydrate. Some mornings he will have 6oz then another 7oz at night but though the day he has no milk (refuses it) and I really struggle to get water or juice down him. Throughout the whole day he just has very small sips of weak juice, is this enough? I have tried various flavours and cups but he hates drinking! (not like his mum lol) He does have those watery fruit pots too but don't know what else to try?

what's his wee like? If its pale yellow at darkest and smells like wee then by and large, he's getting enough fluid. If its darker than pale yellow and or smells strong then he need smore fluid. sneaky ways are to give him juicy fruit purees(not too much lol) or to add a little more water into whatever pureee puddingy or soupy food you do give him.
PS I am not an expert but a great aunt...not a wonderful aunt, i have two great nieces lol
he's maybe going through a phase where he's loving his food that much he's not thinking about drinking

maybe once the novalty of all the new foods he's getting wears off he'll start taking more water/juice.

do you mash/puree his food? i always liked my littleones food to have a bit of texture and it allowed me to add more water to it if needed. like what woofgang is saying, add more water into his meals

i was really sad and measured out all my little ones tubs so i knew roughly how many ounces of food she was getting then once cooked i'd add water/milk in so i had an idea of how much was food and how much liquid was in it.. if that makes any sence!!!

so if she was on a 7oz bottle before at lunchtime i'd them make up about 60z food and add in 1oz water so i had a rough idea
have you tried feeding him a few spoons of food and a sip of water in between?

or even spoon liquids to him. now my little one has mastered the spoon i often catch her pouring her juice out onto a spoon
What about those cups with a built in straw all children love drinking through straws.
my son did the same I decided to give him his milk before any food he never takes as much as used too but as gettin older is drinking more and eatin all his food
Hello, my 8 month old girl went through a similar stage recently - she just completely stopped taking milk and would only have sips of juice or water. We were still offering her milk through the day and she was eating a lot. Anyway we tried just offering her water/juice throughout the day then milk before bed and through the night. She seemed to really enjoy the milk then because she wasn't bored of it. We also gave her ever-so-slightly smaller portions of food at set times during the day and made sure she had nutrients from foods like fruit and yoghurt. It seems to have worked - she's still eating loads and has started to drink more and even has the occasional milk during the day if she seems to want some. Our main problem now is getting her to have a go using a beaker instead of a bottle!!
