Ok so from previous osts most of you know me and my bloke are trying for a baby. I have had various tests and last time I went to docs he sugested that I have another blood test but at 21 days in my cycle. Not great as I dont have a regular cycle. He said as soon as I start period to book test 21 days from then. The thing is I thought I had started Saturday night as had brown cervical mucus, but then nothing till Sunday night, when had kind of tinged stringy mucus. Lastnight nothing and even managed to have a bit of jiggy. lol. Then today a few strands of brown mucus again. So do I count 21 days from Saturday, is this even a period??
Redcrx this must be so nice to read ha ha

Do we need to know this ?
annadomino, the question is in "pregnancy" thats the way conversations go here sometimes!

You didnt have to read it.

and as for the answer, How am I supposed to know, im a fella!!
Perhaps you are pregnant already and this is just a last period. Have you done a test?
Is that the way your periods normally start? if yes, then count the days from there. However if this is different then may be better to wait.

annadomino its a way of life. I did warn you.
What are your periods usually like?
If you don't like this kind of stuff, you should try being married to a midwife.

After a night in theatre, or with a really dodgy patient, she unloads some really gruesome stuff over our morning tea & toast.

light, heavy, different every time.
Do they start off with brown blood?

Brown blood is usually old blood.
No you don't starting counting at all yet......it is 21 days from YOUR NORMAL period and that wasn't by any definition a normal period.....even for you.

I rather fancy Starbuck's answer.
Doesn't sound like a period agree it might be worth doing a test just in case if this is abnormal for you
I would do a test as well. Brown blood is very common in early pregnancy.

Don't get your hopes up though. It can also happen for no reason at all.

ive done tests negative. Just wanted to know when to count from. Its all so confusing.
Mrs V says you're probably doing tests, but if not, agrees you should.
Like Sqad said. It doesn't actually sound like a period. I would count from the day you have fresh blood.
Run a set of dates from first show but be ready to recount if a proper bleed starts you could ask your doc for advice he might suggest you wait for your next proper bleed
We have ALL told her to wait for her next "proper bleed"
Question Author
then what was it? Any ideas. I have some small cysts. And my last period was 8 weeks prior to it
It sounds like old blood. It happens sometimes. I used to get it mid cycle. Docs said it's just one of those things.
What is it?.......could be normal physiological mucous or you could have a cervical erosion........only your Obstetrician could tell you.

You aint pregnant and it aint a period....that's all you need to know at this stage.
