Ontario leader Doug Ford confirmed the move in a news conference on Monday morning, saying it will increase costs about $10 (£7.75) per megawatt-hour for US customers.

Roughly 1.5 million American homes in the northern border states of New York, Michigan and Minnesota will be impacted.

Ford said that the surcharge on energy will remain until the threat of tariffs from the US "is gone for good."//

oh whilst we are here and whilst I can shelter under a mods thread - - - can anyone explain to me why Trump - an industry man froo and froo - has politicies that are screwing the stock markets

I  thought the whole point was to fill his frenz pockets with gold ( cheap mineral deal with Ukraine etc) and say to the punters " your turn next" - they say MAGA ! MAGA!

and he says - well it is not quite time for "your turn next" - perhaps tomorrow or the next day and they chant MAGA MAGA

and trump and pals get v rich and no  one else deos

Instead - he has tanked the marketss

It will encourage more electricity to be generated in the US, which they should do.  "Drill baby drill" will eventually lower fuel costs and make any manufaturing more feasible soon too.

Then what will Canada do?  Surely it would be easier to stop the illegals and drugs (both ways) wouldnt it?
