strange period

i was wondering if anyone can offer advice on this.
Before my son was conceived my period was always 28 days on the dot, after he was born theyve been 28-32ish days.
I usually have a day (sometimes 2) of spotting then 3 days of heavy bleed and then 2 days spotting.
Going on a 28 days cycle my period was due last friday. It didnt arrive but on saturday eve i got the spotting so i assumed it was coming.
Now its 6 days later and ive still only got spotting, enough just to show when i wipe and to need a panty liner.

Ive taken a test which was negative and i dont feel pregnant but Im a bit confused as to why Im still spotting and my period hasnt fully arrived yet.

If any of you had spotting and yet were pregnant, how long was it before you got a positive result?
Or alternatively has anyone else ever experienced this and not been pregnant?

I would wait 2 more weeks before trying a test again.

go to the docs, you may have an infection.

worries over. It finally made an appearance on Saturday.
There had been the possibility i may have been pregnant but obviously Im not. We are not trying for a baby but Im 50% relieved and 50% disappointed.
