I have received a letter from the doctor advising me that my smear test is due. I am 6 weeks pregnant, is it ok to have this?

Why not ring your Doctors surgery and explain the situation. I'm sure they will know if it is okay or not.
if at 6 weeks I doubt youll have had a booking in appointment with midwife yet or your records updated.

You do not have smears when pregnant. Not until after the birth and even then its usually 6 weeks after.

Just explain to surgery that you are pregnant.
no, my nurse said not to.

The Doctor is aware that i am pregnant but i got the letter just before i found out and i forgot to ask at my appointment. I have spoken to the doctor today who said i will not be able to have a smear until 3 months following delivery. I am to see the midwife on the 15th.
It is, according to my GP and MW, safe in pregnancy to have a smear but I, eprsonally, would not have one done. I waited untill my 6 week check

When my sister was 6 weeks pregnant a docter gave her a smear i dont know if that was the cause but she lost hers 2 weeks later so all i can say is ask but if i was you i wouldnt have it until after.
No I don't think you need to ring and cancel , just explain that you are in early stages of pregnancy and they will put the smear on hold . :-)
OH , That reads wrong , it should say .... no , I don't think you should have the smear , ring to cancel ....
My mind going ahead of my typing !!
Its fine to have smears during pregnancy, I was under the hospital for treatment of abnormal cells, they did a smear at my last appt just to check everything was ok.

I told them I was 6 wks pregnant and didn't want a smear - I thought they were just looking but they did the smear, results fine and very healthy 2 year old!

If it concerns you though and you have no history of abnormal smears I cant see it hurting to leave it until your 6 wk post natal check up.
