What date do I go by?

I found out I was pregnant yesterday - unplanned but my shock is quickly turning to joy! My doctor's surgery need to know how many weeks I am but I'm unsure. My last 'proper' period was at the end of June but I had a very slight one only lasting two days on the 20th July. Which one counts as my last period? Any suggestions would be very gratefully received! Clem x

Congratulations Clem!! I'm very jealous really, although I don't plan doing it again. That first 'finding out' and getting used to the idea is a fantastic time. Enjoy every second!

I don't know about dates when there's been 'spotting' - all you can do is give them the dates of both, but I'm sort of presuming it'll be dated from the first day of your period in June.

Congrats Clem! If they take it as the June date you will be around the same time as me - nearly 10weeks! My LMP was 27th June. The two day bleed you had in July may have been implantation bleeding.

Go by the 20th for now and they will basicly give you your estimated due date. You will then go for your 12 week scan and they will give you a correct due date if it differs a lot.

Congrats though, I think its fab. I'm trying for my second now and really hoping to be late this month!!!!!

Congratulations Clem, i would go by the first period in june,and as andrea said at your scan they will be able to tell you more details on a due date.
im also trying for my forth baby! counting days.....

Aw, thanks everyone - for your answers and your lovely messages! I thought I should go by the June date as well but will have to wait for my first midwife appointment or dating scan for a definite due date. It's hard because I want to know NOW!
