First Scan

i have already got a child but i can't remember how soon they can tell if your having a single or multiple birth!! Everyone thinks i'm having twins and i have my first midwife visit on Tuesday. Would she be able to tell? I am only 8 weeks pregnant

Everyone thought I was having twins too as my stomach had literally exploded! Im not, theres only one in there! Ive been told the reason I seemed so big, so quick is because as its my second pregnancy, my body knows what to do ths time round and is doing it all quicker.
If it is your booking in appointment with your midwife, all she will do is ask lots of questions about yours and your familys health and ask about your last pregnancy/birth. She will also test your urine sample and probably weigh you, but that is about it. You wont have a clue how many you have in there until your first scan in a few weeks time.

I have twins and i didn't know until my first scan. they are too small for the midwife to detect without ultrasound.

Physchick, i read that your having a homebirth, i had one 4 months ago and it was fantastic! A really great experience. Hope it all goes to plan.x

first scan is earliest they can tell. at my 12 week scan i got them to double check because i was huge!

Like psychick its my second and everything is expanding much faster this time.
