not feeling much movement recently...
Hi all,
After baby having a manic day on friday (I literally kept bursting into fits of laughter in a meeting friday afternoon because it was moving so much) i have felt practically nothing all weekend. I was 19 weeks on sunday - so is it normal for feelings to come and go at this stage?? i was getting used to it happening every morning at breakfast but nothing for the past few days. not worrying much but a little. i do have a doppler which was detecting 140bpm last night so i'm sure it's ok, but i find feeling the baby so much more reassuring.
thanks, Lorraine

its very common to feel only occasional movement at 19 weeks, some mums dont even feel a thing until 22 so dont worry.
Think about how small baby is and with tiny arms and legs youll only feel it if in the right spot. Baby may be swimming about and kiccking your back which is very difficult to feel.
As long as you are picking up a heartrate I wouldnt be too concerned but you cn always call your EPU or midwife for their advice, they wont mind at all.

Im 22 weeks now and its only been the past couple of weeks I have been feeling definate and regular movements everyday. At 19 weeks, chances are, baby is still very active but just not in the right areas for you to always be feeling them. Try laying down on your back and drinking something very cold. If youre able to hear babys heartbeat, I really dont think theres any reason to be concerned, but if you are, have a chat with your midwife.
Also, there are many women who dont feel movements til as late as 20 weeks. If youre 19 weeks, when is your next scan?

That's reassuring - thank you both. My next scan is 13th November. it was originally 5th but i moved it so that my husband didn't have to take so much time off work. I wish i hadn't had to because i'm very keen to know how little one is getting on in there - and of course, see the baby again. 2 weeks though will fly by I'm sure - this pregnancy is going so fast i can't believe it.
while i typed this message i got a reassuring little kick. just read that the feet are only an inch long at this stage (how cute!) so maybe i was just lucky last week so have felt so much! i definitely think having the doppler is setting my mind at rest and if there's nothing else that would pick up a HR of 140 then i guess i can rest a bit more.
I guess some concern is only normal? it's good to have the people here for support when you need it!

Awww bless. Yes, its definately only natural to have worries. I got to see my baby on Friday and was watching her sing and yawn (and fight with the sonographer! lol) But still I have worries yet I know everything is going great in there!
Dont forget to let us know how the scan goes. Are you going to find out babys sex?

noooooooooo! i couldn't!! in a way i want to know, but i know that if i find out early i won't like knowing. i have started calling it he because i didn't like saying 'it' all the time. everyone i've asked thinks it's a girl so i'm calling it 'he' to balance that out. we'd be happy with either though.
i will certainly post after my scan! ;-)

be thankful for quiet days. I am now 32 weeks and am getting a little sick of feet under my ribs and a swift kick on a full bladder shifts you off the sofa quicker than an offer of a large galaxy.
At the moment I am referring to the baby as 'your child' when talking to my hubby. ie 'if your child doesn't stop kicking me then you are in trouble!'

Ah, we have solved that problem lilyfrog! If baby is kicking and keeping me awake, I tell my boyfriend to put his hand on my tummy, and baby immediately stops kicking and goes to sleep! lol
Works everytime! Wished he wasnt at work right now actually as I have a foot sticking out of me and although it doesnt hurt it is very uncomfortable! lol
