I'm not going to be induced till the day before my due date, the 8th of January!! I'm so gutted!!

As I've mentioned in an earlier post at 36wks my baby weighed 7 pounds and 8 ounces!! So, he's not gonna be a small one at full term.
I just bought the cutest coat today to bring him home in, awwww, I just wanna hold him now!!!

I need help, what helps to bring on labour???

I am trying - sex every night!!
tinned pinnapples, going around on all fours, going for long walks (every day)!!!

Anything else, anyone????

it has to be fresh pineapple, not tinned. Also you need to eat about 8 of them lol
Sperm, although women have sex as the hormone is meant to get the cervix ready it is supposedly meant to be taken orally.
nipple stimulation, take ages and ages but it can start contractions.
Orgasms, again to try and get things moving down below.
Reflexology, see if anyone in your area will do it as a view to starting labour.

sorry to hear they wont induce you until due date, my midwife has said i may be induced early (ie 40 weeks) if Im lucky (?)

i hope the coat you bought wasnt in newborn size! x
Poor you! My daughter weighed 7lb 3oz at 12 days overdue! Dont panic too much though as they say the bigger the baby, the easier the birth is.

My daughter was long and as a result, the newborn size outfit I had bought to bring her home in, didnt fit!
Get yourself a real pineapple or 3! Tinned is no good!
With sex i think its the orgasm that can induce labour ;-)
Wouldn't a real pineapple hurt ?
Hi

Bless you! I went 2 weeks over my due date so believe me I know about trying to get babies out, LOL.

The canning process destroys the enzyme in pineapple that can trigger contractions so you better get searching for fresh! Papaya also contains the same enzyme so you could give that a go.
Walking sideways up the stairs can help rock baby into the pelvis as can walking with one foot up on the curb and the other in the gutter. Just please mind how you go.
There's an argument (put forward by men I'm sure) that sperm is more effective if delivered...*ahem*...orally.

I would avoid curries & castor oil as they work by causing mild stomach cramps and diarhoea (sp?) which is absolutely the last thing you want during labour!

A small word of advice; if you're expecting a big baby I would recommend starting pereneal massage now. I'll spare you the details now, just google it.

Good luck, I'll think "labour thoughts" for you.

pixie has a good point there about the massage!

Im scared to google it though lol

Ahhhh, I'd been told that the pinnaple must be tinned. Great as I really do prefer a fresh pinnapple!!!

Yep, I bought the coat in 0-3 months!! It's drying on the radiator now, taking ages. Smells like baby coz I washed it in 'fairy non bio' (the one for babies) All my newborn clothes are gonna go to waste, we might be able to squeeze him into them for a day or two, but I really doubt it!!!

I tried the nipple thingy this morning, my hands got tired, I couldn't fell any niggles by doing it either!! Are you supposed to fell it working whilst doing it or after??

As for the *oral* stuff!! Ahem, he must be lucky yeh, I'll go there if and when I get really really desperate!!!

As for baby, he's head down, fully engaged, just too danm stubborn to want to come out this side of christmas me thinks!!
The bigger the baby the easier the birth - bring on the drugs!! No, joking!! I really want to try and go without, but the way things are heading I think I might even manage to put the epidural in myself if the aneathatist is busy, he he he!!

If you think of anything else please let me know!! I was really looking forward to being able to enjoy a big xmas lunch, but it doesn't look likely as baby is taking all the room!!!

Ta x
When I was having my daughter my waters broke but my contractions were slow. My midwife advised me to go up the stairs 2 at a time as many times as I could, 45 mins later I was in full blown labour! Good luck! Daffi x
Just remembered; Clary Sage Oil.

You can buy it in Holland & Barratt or big Boots. Its an essential oil that can cause the uterus to contract. Either dilute a couple of drops in a base oil and use for massage or use in as an inhalant in the bath.

For best results when bathing: Soak a flannel in hot water, ring out and put a few drops of oil on cloth and drape over bump, relax for 5 mins while bath is running. Once bath is run add 5 drops oil to 1 cup of full-fat milk (the fat in the milk helps the oil to disperse in the water) and pour in just before you get in. You need to stay in the bath for at least 15 mins for the oil to penetrate your skin.

Even if it doesn't work the bath smells nice & its relaxing.
Semen worked for me..although not taken orally!

I wouldn't worry too much about the size ~ babies tend to slow down in weight gain in the last couple of weeks so it shouldn't be a mammoth..but I will say that the most painful birth I had was the smallest baby (6lb).

All these self induction techniques may work ~ but I think that they only work if the bubba is fully cooked and ready ;o) raspberry leaf tablets appear to be good, and I recommended fresh pineapple to a bloke who was moaning about waiting. The next day the baby was born, and she had only eaten one pineapple!

Thank you for yuo're suggestions!!!

and well, we've had s.e.x!! (more than once, I nearly toppled over too!!!)
I've eaten a whole pinnapple fresh and tinned coz it was nice!!!!
I'm walking around on all fours,
I cant find rasperry leaf tea/tablets - anywhere!!!!!
I've been playing with my nipples all evening and a bit this morning!!! (sounds a bit, ahem)
Oral - still last option!!
Reflexology - everywhere is fully booked!!
My feet hurt, so I'm gonna catch the bus to town today and not going for my long walk!! Might even steal the car if I can manageto fit behind the steering wheel and go for a spin!!
Clary Sage Oil - I'm on a mission to find some today!!

Because I live in the country, I don't have access to big high street stores here, so can't find the rasperry leaf anything and it's the wrong time of year to order it by next day delivery!! Annoying!!
Didn't they know I was gonna be preggie this time of year? Stupid time to put christmas eh!!!!

If only you could see me, I'm like a little mad woman on a mission around the house!!!
