Tummy pain before going to the toilet
Do you all get contraction symptoms before you need to go do a number two? Im more regualr than I have ever been and not constipated ( hope your eating your brekkie red as revenge lol) so going is no problem. But, I know when I need to go because I will get tummy ache and everything goes rock solid, just like a contraction. It last about a minute and I have to stand/sit still till it has passed, then I go to toilet. Anyone get/had this?

It could well be that as theres so little room that anything passing through the bowel is having to move everything and baby out of its way.
as long as its normal and the contraction subsides straight away Id say not to panic and just mention it at next midwife appt.

I have been getting something similar for about the last week or so, not so much the hardness of the tummy but when I get up in the morning within about 5 minutes I have to go and I mean I HAVE TO GO. It starts with a queasy tummy then becomes an ache very quickly. Unfortunately for mrwarpig this has twice been the exact same time as he has been in the bathroom brushing his teeth/washing, I just walk in and go, lol, I cant help it and I dont give a sh*t (pardon the pun) and the way I see it is that he is gonna see worse that this sometime soon so really I am doing him a favour.
You two are gross and deserve each other! ;-) LOL
I don't really know about the contraction-type feelings, I didn't have the same feelings.
I know that the reason curries are "used" to trigger labour is that diarrhoea (sp?) cramps may cause uterine contractions so there must be a link between number 2 muscles and baby muscles (I know ALL the technical terms!). With that in mind I suppose it makes sense that one might feel like the other.
I'm rambling so much that I'm now wondering why I even starting trying to answer this question!
p.s Sounds like I missed a big argument. I'm frantically trying to catch up on the action.

I think pixie has a point, I think the muscle groups "down there" are all kind of linked together so it would make sense that if the baby is laying a certain way that contractions of a sort could happen.
Whilst we're on the subject of toilet habits, I am not going for days (despite eating loads of high fibre foods) and then seem to spend days a time constanly going every 5mins to make up for it lol!
warpig - I had that feeling last week and some of this week too, you are not alone, and neither is Mr warpig - my fella was in the bath on one occassion! LMAO.
Payback's a b*tch :-)

Ive been avoiding curries as the last time I had one I was very poorly after. Im sure there was actually no connection as I had a water infection, but it put me off curries lol
Im now getting this every time I need to go, which can be 3-4 times a day sometimes!
Pixie_woo, Im sure your right at them being connected because I thought I simply needed a number two when I was in labour last time......... turned out I was fully dialated and was wanting to push!

I feel left out now! My toilet and bathroom are seperate lol
Pixie_woo, I dont think he was actually trying to wind anyone up, just didnt think of the effects his words would have on all us expectant mums.
natalie, have you tried eating prunes or drinking prune juice? May help keep you a little more regular.

I don't think it is consitpation, I am not uncomfortable or anything and I have loads of fibre in my diet. I think it just depends where the baby is lying - when the bump is out the front I can go when bump disappears and baby is towards the back I can't go! Baby has control of my intestines I think and is having a laugh with me.
The past two days I have had very little movement at the front and seem to be flatter, and I am sure I felt a kick in the inside of my bum yesterday, around I guess what would be the muscle bit inside. If you know what I mean.
Other times, I have a definite bump at the front and it is very hard and preggy looking and that is when baby obviously feels he / she can allow me to go :-)
Thanks for the tips though guys :-)
