Ovulation tests
Hi,
has anyone used one of these? I've been trying for a baby for just under a year and have talking about these at work today.
2 people said that having used one they fell pregnant the first month.
I'm now intrigued and wondered if i should use one??
Anyone else got any experience like this.....

Your temperature rises when you ovulate so youre supposed to take your temperature every morning before getting out of bed and record the ups n downs throughout your cycle. The ups tell you when youre ovulating.
There are no guarantees of course that you will fall pregnant but it does show your most fertile time.

there is no need for them if you are regular, in which case you can work out when your most fertile days are anyway. i know the ones you mean tho, i did try them, but because my periods are very irregular, it was just a waste of money cos i would have to buy loads each month. if you have regular periods, work out a ovulation chart and work off that.
Check out the reviews of clearblue fertility monitor (there are some on amazon.com or more if you search on google). It's a bit more sophisticated than the sticks you are referring to and probably way more expensive, but the reviews speak for themselves. To be honest I was very skeptical, but it worked for me the 2nd month using it. I invested as I was feeling pretty awful after a miscarriage and wanted to get pg again quickly.
I never tried the ovulation sticks you refer to, so can't compare.

Yes, I have used them (and so has my fiend who is now pregnant). You have to wee on them ever day for 7 days at the same time of day. They detect a certain hormone and when it is present a smiley face appears and means the next 36 hours are ovulation time.
I only found I became obsessed with the damn thing (and so did my friend). I hated the whole obsession thing as it is not like me or fun to be that way, so didn't buy a further set. My mate continued with the thing religiously and brought a further 6/7 sets and did conceive in the end (took 10 months in all). It is really up to you. I thought they were expensive for what they are - and it is so easy to become obsessed with them and doesn't guarentee conception.
Good luck if you decide to go down that route - but I wouldn't do it again. x
