maternity leave confusion?

i am 24 weeks pregnant and i am a bit confused about maternity leave. i no that you can have a year off but it is not all paid but i have been told that 9 months is paid is this correct as i thought it was 6 months paid leave?? i understand that you will get 90 percent of my wages for the first 6 weeks and then a set payment after but just want to know how long i get off paid??

If your are taking Statitory Maternity pay then you are correct about getting first 6 weeks at 90% of your pay. After that, you can take an additional 33 weeks off in total on 90% of 90% OR �112 (whichever is the cheepest).

So you will get SMP for 39 weeks.

Your HR dept should discuss this with you. Mine have told me they will book an appointment to explain the finances once I have produced my Mat B1 certificate (I think you get this at 25weeks, but could be wrong as I'm 23weeks at mo).
