Overdue!
12 Answers
I'm now 40+ weeks (due last thurs). Keep getting hopeful as my Braxton HIcks have been quite intense and regular a times over the last week. Quite a lot of twinges in the pevlic floor area too. Have tried most of the usual ways to "encourage" but getting a bit tearful and overtired now. Any suggestions? So far have tried raspberry leaf tea, whole pineapple, walking as energetically as possible (this did bring on some quite strong Braxton Hicks), spicy food and a bit of the other. Could it be close anyway? Thanks for any advice in advance!

We think we know, but we're keeping quiet for now in case it's wrong or people get carried away with a particular colour scheme! I have a rocking stool that I can sit on, maybe that will help? I'm pretty much getting B-H contractions as soon as I've been upright for a while. Since it's not raining, I think a long(ish) walk is on the cards. Don't fancy the castor oil much, but if it's a toss up between more weepy days and that, maybe....
thanks

no probs hope it happens soon for you and goes well! are you planning a natural birth or some pain relief? just giving opinion that natural is much easier if your a bit wary of the pains, hurts like hell but you fell in control. ive had my babes both ways, the 1st was full pain relief all the way but didnt get time with my son and am so glad it was natural as it made all the difference, plus he was 10lb 110ozs so cant be that bad. on the other hand this may not be your 1st baby and you know all this already! either way good luck and congrats in advance.
well ive heard that nipple tweaking is good for getting things moving. Can take a few hours though so wait til watching your fave soaps on tv and get tweaking.
with my first i went 17 days over before they broke my water and that got things moving.
with my second i went 4 days over and a chinese curry (indian isnt meant to work as its the spices in the chinese that do it) started me off.
other than that, rocking your hips may get baby on cervix, a good sweep by midwife or a bath or massage with clary sage oil (google it as it will need diluting) can work too.

Hi, I went 5 days over, had a sweep and went into labour the next day. It will all be worth it in a few days when you get to meet your little one properly!
After the sweep I washed two cars, walked all the way round tesco, ate a spicy pizza and had an "early night" ;-) so I don't really know what started the labour, but eating pizza has got to be a nicer idea than some of things being mentioned!!
Hope it all happens soon, and that the birth goes quickly and to plan!
Good Luck. x

Hi
I went 10 days over. I tried everything from driving up a bump road to eating a whole pinapple in one go, all it done for me was give me bleeding gums and blisters in my mouth!!!!
Think its just coincidence with all the old wife stories.
I had 2 membrane sweeps, one was a couple of days before I started then I got another on the day my contractions started
Good luck
