Hi All

Just a quick note to say baby Tahlia was born 4.15am weighing in at 8lb 12oz.

Although i went in to be induced i actually started naturally and was in labour for approx four hours.

Actually whilst im here does anybody know how long you can keep (formula) milk in the fridge for?

I know that the most recent official line is to make each feed fresh but this just isnt practical and it never hurt my thriving 5 year old to make 4 up at a time and keep in the fridge. I just cant remember how long they keep for.....is it 6 hours?

Please also confirm once you have taken out of the fridge and started to feed you have to throw away after 1hour?

Sorry bombarding with questions lol

cheers

congratulations! and welcome tahlia!

I hope that you are both doing well.

as for feeds, yes th guidelines state you should make each with just of boiling water fresh for each feed but if i made any in advance they were cooled rapidly and put in back of fridge, not on door until the next feed.
If i needed more than 1 i did tend to use the premixed cartons.

and yes any food that isnt used within 1 hour should be discarded
I can't help with your questions Lucy, only congratulate you on the birth of Tahlia (lovely name).

The best Christmas present ever.
congratulations!
i used ready made sma with my baby, those cartons once opened can be kept in the fridge for 24hours
Welcome to the world Tahlia

What a beautiful name, well done and congralutions Lucy xx

I was told to make the bottles fresh each time, but as, strangely enough, my baby didn't understand when she was hungry that she had to wait for the kettle to boil, then to cool for between 15 and 30mins before I could transfer water to bottle, then make up the feed and then cool it sufficiently for her to drink, I began just making 2-3 bottles at a time and keeping them in the fridge until I needed them.
Sorry, I didn't ead the rest of your Q, I got carried away - you already have a child and so know all that LOL.

I thought that the bottle could be kept for 4hours after it has been first used.
lol terambulan, but it isn't safe to make new mothers laugh, especially if they've had stitches.
