Hi there, im 31wks pregnant and am starting to get all my bits ready for my little girl, ive spoken to many people and they all say different what i would like to no is should all my baby's clothes be washed before putting them on her? they all brand new no secondhand stuff, please tell me what you have/would do many thanx
its a difficult one as if they dont fit and youve washe d them you cant return the items.
Id say anything that was loose on the shop display (not covered) should be washed as it may be dusty etc. But if you can just wash a few bits and then once baby arrives wash the size that you need.
Both of mine didnt fit it newborn clothes at all and i just gave them all to friends as id washed everything.
Thanx redcrx,
the other side i was thinking of was skin allergies coz of washing powder that happened to my sis with her twin boyz she used fairy and there skin reacted bless em
Most new clothing today are sprayed with preservatives such as formaldehyde to help keep them stain and wrinkle free, also to stop mildew in transit from countries such as Asia. redcrx idea is really good , if your baby is bonny then the first size won't fit. Hope everything goes well for you chelsea and let us know when baby arrives.
You should be able to work out whether newborn will fit through her weight & length. I wash everything new first. Just think of the dirty factories theyre made at, where they could have fallen on the floor etc...
Ive found non-bio washing powder by persil to be kind on babies skin.
Definitely. I worked in the clothing industry for years and visited many factories, both in the UK and Abroad. Alot of clothing is made in the far east where factory conditions cannot be described as pristine and where finished items are thrown into dusty trolleys or in heaps on the floor.
