7 weeks to go and i did something really really stupid!!!!

well when i went for my 20 week scan i was told the placenta was lying low and i may need a c-section, she said it was very common and in most cases the placenta rises before the baby comes, so i have to rescan in 2 weeks time to find out whether i need c-section or not
anyway..... the thought worried me as i dont know much about it and as much as a natural birth hurts i would prefer it, would be weird to just be lying there feeling nothing and then bam!! heres your baby!!! lol

anyway so i did something stupid, :o( i looked up c-section on you tube!!!

oh god, oh god oh god!!!! why oh why did i do it!!!
now i feel physically sick! it was horrible, something noone should ever see!!!! i hope and pray to god i dont need one!! my labour was 18 hours last time and was sooooo bad but i would rather that again then the sight i saw!!!!!

I haven't seen the clip you mean and I'm not going to look it up but I promise you that when I had my section I didn't see anything nasty, just my beautiful babies when they were born.
The put a little screen up just under chest height and because you're lying down you really don't know what's happening. I remember my husband who had a chair beside me tried to stand up so he could see the first baby coming out and was quickly stopped by a nurse - the poor man would have probably fainted.
The team I had were great and even though I couldn't feel a thing they talked to me and my husband the whole time and told us what was happening.
I won't pretend it's all roses - It did take a while to recover but I had a few extra complications.
As far as the actual operation itself goes, you'll be fine and should not see anything that upsets you.
Now stop looking up stuff on the internet - no good can come of it : ).

God! I aint seen the clip and am not going to look it up either. But what u said scared me half to death lol then i read yingyangs comment and feel a little better.
low lying placenta's must be a common thing. I was told that mine was low lying at my 20 week scan.
I had a scan at 28weeks as my midwife said my bump measured small. Everything was fine, he's a good size :)
My placenta was still low lying, so Ive got to go for a scan when im 34 weeks to check my placenta has moved up.

I have had two sections, the first after a 36 hour labour, the second planned as the same circumstances that meant I had one the first time were likely to re-occur. you definitely do not see anything gory and I promise you, it still feels magical when they lift the baby over the screen to show you. What will be will be, and the safety of yourself and your baby is what will come first and I am sure that you will agree, rightly so.

I hope it works out the way that you want, but honestly, dont worry if it is to be a section.

sorry didnt mean to scare anyone!

im just extrememly squeemish, the first sigh of blood or anything like that makes me cringe!!

i actually looked up a natural birth aswell and that was just as bad!! im glad im at the other end!! id rather go through the 18 hr labour then have to stand the bottom end watching!!
anyway its all good in the end! i cant wait for my bundle of joy to arrive, im just not going to think about how she gets here!

Hi x I had placenta previa also and this was found on my 20 wks scan, by the time i had my 32 wk scan to check the placenta had moved and i has a natural birth.
The placenta would be laying in whats called the lower segment, as the baby grows this lower segment does too, which can move the placenta up and awat from the cervix, mine covered my cervix, and i was so worried but everything was fine by time i had my scan, so try not to worry, just remember you will have your baby in your arms, and any pain you have will be worth it!! x

I had a planned c-section 9 weeks ago (God its flown!) and I was absolutely bricking it cos I did the same as you!! Seriously, they couldn't start the op as my heart kept stopping and starting I was so scared. But.... I was in and out of theatre in 38 minutes and our gorgeous baby girl was out in the first 5 minutes! So once they'd passed us the little bundle I couldn't have cared less what they were doing for the other half hour. It didn't feel like half that long anyway. But the rest is just stitching up.
Like annie says, its still so magical when they pass you the baby. Dont worry, but stop looking things up. I'm the same though-just can't help myself!!

P.S Mine was planned cos bubs was breech, not for placenta previa.

i had a c section with all my 3 children who are now grown up in fact i learnt on new years eve that im gonna be a nana for the first time cant wait. anyway going back to your question u are well covered and cant see a thing UNLESS like my surgeon who had on o big pair of glasses (it was the 80s) and i could see everything through the glasses. She realised i could see and told me not to look but you know what its like someone tells you not to do something and you cant help but do the opposite.if you have to have a c section have an eppidural its a lot better then being put to sleep. good luck.
