Baby shower

Has any1 been to a baby shower? or had one of there own? A mate of mine is having one which her mum is organizing and im invited to it but i haven't a clue what 1 is or what your meant to do, i gather its about buying the baby presents, is there any1 that is able to help me out please.

It seems to be an american custom thats taken off here in the last few years.
Its a party where the baby (and mum to be) get gifts and have a fun time with all their female friends. Like a drink free version of a hen night i suppose.

Yer they are like Hen nights... U jus get a gift for the bubba... and then usually theres some food, chatting and games... eg Guess the measurments of the bump... guess who the person in the baby photo is... ETC!

hehe its just an excuse to get pressies!!! tho everyone loves pressies!!

i think if i was invited to one, id probabilly get a nice bottle of wine for mum ( after the baby is born) and some new born baby grows, and maybe some essentials like baby bath, bath lotion etc

Hi,
Only been to one, my best mates, and I didn't want to get a pressi until the baby came as she didn't know what she was having. So I explained that I would be spoiling the baby after it came and I made a big pink and blue cake and made little icing baby toys for the top. Went down really well and I didn't turn up empty handed. We played some games and had some food and some virgin cocktails. I didn't have one myself though. Like redcrx says, I think its a bit of an American thing.

I had one before my youngest was born - it was really an excuse to get together for a girlie night in with food and drink and pressies for me...... baby didn't do so well - ha ha ha - I told everyone I thought it was unlucky to buy anything for the baby before it was born - besides I'd already got stuff from my first.

We played crazy games like guessing the weight of the baby and when it arrives who ever is the nearest gets the money (think we charged a �1 - but then the person who won gave the money to the local SCBU) baby names through the alphabet, pictures of famous people as babies guessing who they were.

I'm quite looking forward to it now i know what 1 is haha, there wont be much drinking all our mates are pregnant we all sat on the same chair i think.

My friend had one, it was good fun. her mum did a game with nappies which she filled with jar baby food, we had to taste and guess what it was. I have never felt so queasy. I have a kid theres not way its having those jars, they are rank!
