I had a baby 7 weeks ago and have bled since. The blood was just like a normal period, but for the last two weeks, it has smelled really really bad. It is brown in colour too. I am having 2 baths a day and it's still smelly. It's the atucal blood that smells. Could this be an infection ort is it normal..

I have my post natal check next week, but just thought i'd ask advice on here first.

Thanks

Wrong topic to post, Notveryhappy.

Body & Soul is the topic you want.
You likely have an infection, which will clear up with a course of antibiotics. But the sooner you see your GP, the better. Take care.
Don't worry. I bled for 8 weeks after both of my pregnancies and, towards the end, the blood was brown and smelly. Don't forget that your body has been holding on to alot for the past 9 months. Just hang on in there for another week and get yourself checked out if you're not happy after this.
Aarghh! DEFO the wrong section!!

You have my sympathies for your problems. However it was a shame I was eating a bacon sarnie with tomato sauce when I logged in here.....
If you feel well in yourself .i.e no temperature and you nhave no abdominal, then don't worry as it could be a bit if retained placenta.

BUT....if you develop a temperature OR abdominal pain, see a Dr. immediately.
If it has been smelling for two weeks, it could be indicative of an infection. I had a miscarriage in Nov. 2004 at 11 weeks, and after they gave me a d&c, I had bleeding on and off, which was intermittently brown and normal -coloured. I let this go on thinking I was just readjusting, but eventually queried it with my doc, who gave me antibiotics. I asked if the infection would stop me from having children in the future, and he said that there was only a 0.6% chance that it would. It could be nothing, but it is always best to speak to your GP. Hope everything turns out ok for you.
Hi-de-ho campers. :)

Notveryhappy posted this in body & soul one minute before posting it in here.
MWB....we all make mistakes...............me excuded of course.
Perhaps notveryhappy wanted more feedback. The beauty of chatterbank is that we can discuss any subject. I would have been surprised to see this in Motoring, but not here. We've all see worse here, and I've often lost my appetite quickly !!
NoMercy.....a mistype? Motoring.....didn't you mean Mothering?

LOL LOL
Ha ha, sqad !! x
Phone NHS Direct today, or your GP tomorrow.
If you are feeling well, with no temperature or pains you probably have nothing to worry about.
