Hi, I am pregnant with my first baby at 36. I conceived first time but am confused about how many weeks I am. The first day of my last period was the 21st June - but I am fairly sure I actually conceived on the 26th June. I couldnt have conceived when most woman are thought to ovulate at 14 days after first day of last period or after those 14 days! Bit confused as if I calculate my due date by period I am 7 weeks but if I calculate by conception date I am 9 weeks?? So am I 7 weeks or 9 weeks? And what will that make me at the 12 week scan? I cant get my head around it!!

the date is taken from the first day of last period. I dont understand how you can conceive 2 weeks before your period? 9 weeks is incorrect.

freom the 21st June you are 8 weeks pregnant with a due date of 28th March 2010

This date will not be changed at your 12 week scan unless there is a variation of more than 1 week usually.

redcrx....it is a shame that we can't have your answer permanently displayed, which would save many posters.LOL

Tell me red.........don't women REALLY know how to calculate EDD?

What about all those cards that baby foods give out? You tap in the last period ect and it gives EDD.

Am I missing the point?
lol sqad, it is confusing at times as,obviously, a woman doesnt see that she can be 2 weeks pregnant BEFORE actually conceiving.

btw, emx. at the 12 week scan you will be about 12 weeks.

Your midwife, when you book in, will give you a book from the NHS that explains a lot.

Red.

Eh!!! Pregnant before she conceives?

I think that I will stick to CB....this Pregnacy is too complicated for young sqad.
The day you miss your period, presuming they are regular, you are considered 4 weeks pregnant.
exactly, ummmm.

the date of conception doesnt come into it at all. Thats why full term is 37 week and the estimated due date is 40 and baby can arrive up to 42 weeks (and beyond in my case)

oh and even if youd had sex on the 26th you may have not actually become pregnant until a few days later.

Yeah. thanks for the not so helpful sniding - its actually those baby food websites that ask you to put in your date of conception OR first date f last period and then give you two completely different answers! Hey ho - clearly invented by men!

Just put in the date your period was due. Then you'll get your date. That's what the midwifes do.
