I have read that you get this when you have gained weight during pregnancy or before pregnancy or when you are expecting more than one baby. However I have this, but I don't seem to have gained that much weight. It is making me feel paranoid.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is also a "repetetive strain injury" and is common among those who put strain on the wrists alot in their dasily life, e.g typists.
It can also be caused by water retention in your wrists. I've not gained too much weight (am bang on for my height and weight pre-pregnancy) but my ankles and hands/wrists swelled a few weeks back and I have carpal tunnel in my right wrist.
As Murphy said it can be repetitive strain and so usually affects the hand you use more often. (Mine is only in my right wrist).
Unfortunately there isn't much we can do about it. I've been to the docs and have been referred to a physio to get a splint. If this doesn't work there are a few other things to try, but I’d imagine they will start you with the splint too. Apparently it is quite effective though.
Don't feel paranoid though. It’s very common in pregnancy!
