Does anyone know off hand if you can still take your bike on a train?

I want to take my MTB to Smelly London.

Yes you can take bikes on trains. I`ve done that with two friends. We had to stand by the doors and I must admit I did think it was dangerous. If anything happened, we were blocking the exits. If you look at Southern Railway`s website their cycle policy is there. It looks like you can`t do it from 0700 to 1000, and 1600 to 1900 hours.

There's a shorter version of redman's link.
Depends on the train used. The smaller commuter trains (Certainly where I live) have seats that fold up (To make space for bikes and Buggies etc.) and spaces at the end of carriages to keep bikes in. Not too sure about trains between Brighton and London though.
