Partner's rubbish birthday present
38 Answers
My partner is 27 this week, his parents gave him 3 pairs of socks, the wrong size, and 1 can of Lynx which says 'not to be sold separately' on the side, so it was obviously one of a multipack (can he expect the other one for xmas?!) This was all wrapped in Minnie mouse wrapping paper!!
His parents are fairly well off, 2 foriegn holidays a year, out drinking or having a meal almost every weekend, not that it's about how much the gift cost, but its hard to say that it's the thought that counts, when there clearly wasn't a thought - neither of them even knew how old he was this year, from the look of the card, i'd say they thought he was turning 7.....
Tell me about your rubbish birthday presents to cheer him up - I once got an AA winter car kit with de-icer, scraper, jump leads etc in it, from my dad....didn't have a car at the time though!

The only really bad present that sticks in my mind was from my ex step-grandma. She bought me this gold chain but even Mr T would have rejected it for being too bold. It truely was hideous. But I can't really be mean about it because she did think I would love it so it was really nice of her really. I hated knowing we were going to be seeing her because it meant the chain had to be resurected.

A set of cheap sieves was given to a female friend of mine by her BF for Valentines Day.
A very close friend of mine got a nasty glass bottle with a green metal top, almost akin to a jam-jar for her glass wedding anniversary (15).
Personally it was a wedding present - a 20 inch high frosted tulip glass vase that spiralled down into a clear stem at the base that was frightful. We called it the barfing bowl as one could probably count the bits in the bottom of the stem......

no theres no family joke....he got a saw a couple of years back (he's a carpenter) his dad got it free from work, and then wrapped it, i laughed they looked offended! He's used to it, but he wasn't happy, even my mum got him better presents. He often gets things which are his older brothers taste, and his mum prides her self on buying the same things for her husband and 2 sons, like getting them the exact same t-shirt.
On the plus side I know what to give his dad for his birthday in a couple of weeks!!
The boxes is genius, must suggest that to my mum for my brothers 25th next year!

ha these are all brilliant...well, they're rubbish but you know what I mean! My grandparents once bought me a pair of trousers and a fur gillet type thing when I was about 18, it was from a really old person shop, when I tried to return it I was horrified to find it cost £100....I felt soooo guilty!
Lol at the Elvis staue, this is giving me ideas for their xmas pressies!

A co-director of mine in the Far East would travel around China and other countries collecting the naff tie-pins and brooches that various Chinese Airlines would hand out in first class, mainly glass and paste on some cheap tin. (And GAUDY wan't even in it).
He would save them and give them out as Xmas presents to his family back here............so generous and considerate.
