Quick update on thing 1 and thing 2
17 Answers
Thing 1 and thing 2 are now at nursery three afternoons a week. Today thing 2 didn't cry until we walked through the door which is massive progress (he says 'I miss you soooo much') - thing 1 loves it but cries a bit when I am leaving, but I think that's because she feels she should. Whilst thing 2's talking is still pants, he is 'talking' to the ladies at nursery which is another massive step for him. He has made huge improvements in the last couple of weeks (although I still feel bullied into sending them to nursery).

Awww - that's brilliant tho sher. My OH said the other day "what we need to remember is that as parents we are the bow and our children are our arrows, it's our job in life to shoot them as high and as far as we can into the world" very profound after quite a few beers!! Just think what a difference it is making to their confodence and their ability to cope well with school......even if you'd rather have them with you. I guess it is a bit of practice for you too to see how you get on without them!!
Thing 1 (Freya) is indeed a girl (3 boys and 2 girls). She is completely different to the others - tiny, blonde hair, blue eyed and completely wild. Thing 2 has done brilliantly and I am so proud of him as it must have been hard for him. I didn't not send them to nursery for my benefit, just didn't send them because they didn't have a need to go as they had each other for company.
Don't worry Annie, I didn't think that. I have been wondering if I was keeping them home for my benefit though. First couple of afternoons was odd but by the time I drop them off it's not long till it's time to go up the school to get boy #2 and girl so it's less than 2 hours. I will be crushed in September though but I am thinking of stuff I could do.

Erin, it's been horrible. Dan has been crying a good hour before leaving the house and I have had to leave him sobbing at the nursery (but they are fab and ring me as soon as I get home to say he is ok). I have no worries about Freya as she is really confident. When I pick them up they are both grinning and have obviously enjoyed themselves (I also get an up date at the school from one of the ladies when she comes to pick up her own children).
I'm the youngest of 7 and my mum still talks about how much she could get done in the couple of hours that we were in nursery. Poor woman must have been demented!! we only had a two bed flat and my dad worked nights and she worked part time while he got up to keep an eye on whoever wasn't in school yet. She also sewed all our clothes and knitted all our woolens, crocheted blankets from odds of wool or ripped down jumpers.
I can't sew or knit - I haven't used the time very productively so far (I will even admit to watching Jeremy Kyle today as all of my jobs were done - never realised that there were people like that). I WILL become more productive in coming weeks - even thinking of doing some baking but I am pacing myself.
