Value of jewellery at todays prices?
9 Answers
Wasnt sure where to post this!
I have two rings I inherited.. and want to get them re-modelled into something i am more likely to wear.. To my own taste..
My question is.. I have 2 valuations from YEARS ago.. is there anyway to ROUGHLY work out what they might be worth now??
1987 valuation was
Ring 1) 18c five stone ring set with 2 x 015pt victorian diamonds and 3 x 015pt sapphires = £400.00
a valuation dated 1968
Ring 2) 18ct gold diamons solitaire ring £26.12.7
??? Presume before decimalisation???
Any rough guestimates welcome!!!

I would multiply your 1968 valuation by 20 (inflation was quite high through most of the 70's) and your 1987 valuation by 8, making £500 to £600 for the solitaire (must be quite a small one!) and £3000 to £3500 for the five stone one. However, fluctuations due to changing market tastes could swing those by one-third either way.
Well I visited hatton garden. Several jewellers all declined interest in both rings. I wanted to try to sell one and value the other... They are too small apparently! So not worth buying! The rings themselves are small... So presumably we all have fatter fingers these days. Any idea where I could sell it? Or is it rendered worthless due to its size????? I'm a bit confused... As my mum and another poster here reckoned to multiply their value x 8... But surely it's worth nothing if no one wants to buy it!!!
